Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC) is a rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of temporary paralysis affecting one or both sides of the body, often beginning in infancy or early childhood. Episodes can last from minutes to days and are commonly accompanied by abnormal eye movements, dystonia, seizures, developmental delay, and other neurological symptoms. Aspartes Pharmaceuticals is developing ASP-001, a novel pediatric orally dispersible tablet formulation of flunarizine, that has the potential to become the first FDA-approved treatment specifically indicated for AHC.
